“There are so many details the Lord weaves together that we don’t even understand and aren’t even aware of when we are busy asking our why’s.”
This line suddenly came out of my mouth seemingly out of nowhere while in conversation with a dear sister friend the other day. We were lamenting with each other about a hard path we are both walking and sharing how weary we have each felt on that path as we wonder how long it will still remain ours to walk.
It was in that very moment when it felt like those words were downloaded to my brain from the Holy Spirit. And I believe they truly were sent directly from Him to me to encourage both me and my friend in that moment.
And today, I hope they encourage you, too.
I don’t know what you are currently walking through, but God does. And He sees you in the midst of whatever hard road you are journeying. His eyes are ever focused on you and will never not be. And He is not only watching you with the loving and tender heart of a Father, but He is at work. Right there, right now, precisely when it most feels as if He isn’t.
Behind the scenes, He is weaving a tapestry. A tapestry the back of which looks chaotic and messy and overwhelming. But the day will come when He will turn that tapestry over, and you will see the front of it - the beautiful, colorful, ordered, purposeful, awe-inspiring finished product. You will begin to know and understand why He allowed your hard road.
You will begin to see that, precisely when you were struggling the most under the weight of a heavy burden or heartbreaking loss or confusing year, that was the very time when He was weaving the most important threads - the very threads which serve as the very foundation for the beautiful finished product that is the tapestry of your life.
We see this over and over again in the lives of countless people throughout Scripture. It has always been the Lord’s MO to bring beauty from ashes, to have a purpose for everything, and to work everything together for our good.
One of my favorite cases of this is the life story of Joseph. He walks through hard thing after hard thing undoubtedly confused as to why terrible things keep happening to him. But at the end of it all, he is able to say to his brothers (the very brothers who started him on his hard road!), “You planned evil against me; God planned it for good to bring about the present result—the survival of many people.” (Genesis 50:20)
So ask your why’s. He welcomes them and wants you to process them with Him.
But while you are busy asking your why's, also remember this: there are so many details the Lord is currently weaving together that you don’t even understand and aren’t yet even aware of.
